About Phab

As of 16th January 2020, Phab Club Torquay has become a stand alone charity in it’s own right – Registered Charity Number 1187410. We still hold a close relationship and affiliation to the national Phab Charity.

Phab inspires and supports children, young people and adults with and without disabilities to make more of life together – breaking down community barriers, reducing social isolation, and creating opportunities for disabled people to enjoy the same activities and challenges as, and alongside, those without a disability.

Local Phab Clubs

Over 170 Phab Clubs across England and Wales, with 8,000 members, enable children, young people and adults with disabilities to get together with friends and family for all kinds of activities and social events.

Some Clubs will meet each week, with members enjoying each other’s company and different activities – from crafts to a game of pool, disco or visit from the local Fire Station!  Other Clubs will focus on sports such as Boccia, trips to the cinema or days out.

Run by local volunteers, Phab Clubs can make a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities and their families too.   And regional and national events organised by Phab bring local Clubs and Members together to share experiences, support each other and enjoy time away together.

Phab Torquay is a vibrant club and has been running for many years. The club is run by Mark Thorneywork with the help of many volunteers and also 2 committees (one made up of some of the members and the other made up of parents and local people who are passionate about the club).

These volunteers include club members who have been with the club for a number of years and have expressed an interest in taking on the responsibility of helping out on club nights both with the main Monday night club and also the Junior club on Wednesdays.

In late 2017 the club managed to obtain 3 years funding from Children in Need which will enable it to do wonderful things for its club members and hopefully expand into new opportunities. The club runs on 2 nights a week (during term times).

Mondays – 7pm – 9pm – For ages 14 – 25

Wednesdays – 6.30 – 8pm – For ages 8 – 16

Cost per evening – £4

We also have a Tuck shop at the club on both nights

Club nights are subject to change to fit in trips and additional activities.

Last Monday in every month is late night for 18 years and over – 9pm – 10pm at the Prince of Orange pub!
